"Pablo Neruda, il Mare nell'Anima" ("the Sea in the Soul")
- Transparences, sonorities, verses -

Created by: Domenico DRAGO
Realisation: Domenico DRAGO e Francesco LOPERGOLO

For telling the sea and rendering poetry an emotion not only for the feelings but also for the senses, the authors of this unusual concert have used images of the marine and submarine worlds joined to music and sounds selected on purpose and moving poems extracted from Pablo Neruda's (Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971) Lyrics, who had a deep intense love relationship with the sea.
The Multivision Concert "Pablo Neruda, the Sea in the Soul", is being repeated (in this city) after being presented for the first time in Rome at the Protomoteca del Campidoglio on 5th April 2004, on the occasion of the One Hundredth Anniversary of the birth of the Chilean poet, upon invitation of Chile Embassy in Italy, of Pablo Neruda Faoundation from Santiago in Cile, the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the High Patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy.

LA STRADA DEL MARE 1993 (7.00) 9 proj.

THE ROAD TO THE SEA. Spiritual mystic itinerary in the Egyptian desert, among Coptic monasteries and hermits, in the search of oneself and faith, along a lonesome road, which leads directly to the sea, the universe, God!
The text of the multivision is extracted from a fragment of the poem:
El Mar(Memorial de Isla Negra, 1964).

ADDIO A PARIGI 2003 (8.00) 9 proj.

FAREWELL TO PARIS. The great desire of Pablo Neruda is here evidenced, when he was in Paris, to go back to his home country, among the things he loved and to see his loved sea again.
Multivision is inspired by the homonimous poem:
Adiòs a Paris(Estravagario, 1958) and others extracted from (Canto General, 1950) and (Memorial de Isla Negra, 1964); finally fragments from the volume (Confieso que he vivido, 1974) complete the text.

ODE ALLE VIGNE DEL MARE 1998 (15.00) 3 proj.

ODE TO THE VINES OF THE SEA. The sea weeds and the sea vegetation are told and interpreted together with the poetry of Pablo Neruda. Multivision gets inspiration from poetry:
Oda a las algas del océano (Tercer libro de las Odas, 1957).

I VERSI DEL CAPITANO 2001 (6.00) 9 proj.

THE CAPTAIN'S VERSES. The tense love between Pablo Neruda and Matilde Uttutia, which took place in Capri during the poet's stay in the island, is told.
Multivision gets inspiration from some poems from the omonimous book:
(Los Versos del Capitan, 1952) e da altre estratte da (Veinte poemas de amor y una canciòn desesperada, 1924), (El abitante y su esperanza, 1933) e (Tercer libro de las Odas, 1957).

LE VECCHIE DELL'OCEANO 2004 (8.00) 9 proj.

THE OLD WOMEN OF THE OCEAN. These are the women who spent their whole lives breathing the ocean's saltiness. They have been daughters first, then wives and at last mothers of men who fought against the sea for everyday survival. Now they have remained alone and continue to watch the sea, living again their past full of memories.
Multivision gets inspiration from the omonimous poem:
Las Viejas del Océano(Estravagario, 1958) e ad altre estratte da (Canto General, 1950) e (Memorial de Isla Negra, 1964).

Voice over: Italian
Subtitles: none
